In the mid 1800s, the Marchese Bartolommeo Bartolini Baldelli, Superintendent of the Royal Household for the Lorena Grand Dukes, created a Romantic English park complete with winding avenues and holm oak trees.
\nIn those years, the formal gardens were completely restyled with flowerbeds constructed with tufa and terraces coloured with seasonal blooms. Box hedges and rare plants were planted together with tall trees such as Lebanese Cedars, many of which have survived to this day.
