Es handelte sich um eine ganz oben auf dem Berg erbaute Festung, die das von den Bulgari im 8. Jhd. erbaute, nicht weit davon entfernte, Schloss ersetzte.<\/span><\/p>\n

Montozzi war eine Hochburg, die wegen ihrer dominanten, strategisch gelegenen Position, oberhalb des Oberen Arnotales und des Ambratales, bei verschiedenen Herrschaften, wie die Guidi und die Ubertini, sehr begehrt war. W\u00e4hrend der Kriege zwischen den Welfen und den Gibellinen wurde sie mehrfach zerst\u00f6rt, wieder aufgebaut und bei den Unterwerfungen des so umstrittenen Territoriums zwischen Florenz, Siena und Arezzo besch\u00e4digt. <\/span><\/p>\n

Ab 1400 wurde das gesamte Obere Arnotal Florenz untergeordnet. Montozzi verlor seine kriegerischen Eigenschaften, um sich nach und nach in eine friedvolle, aktive dichtbesiedelte landwirtschaftlich gelegene Ortschaft zu verwandeln.<\/span><\/p>\n

Unter den Familien, die Anfang 1500 entschieden, in die zum antiken Schloss Montozzi geh\u00f6rende L\u00e4ndereien zu investieren, befand sich auch die Familie Bartolini Baldelli aus Terranuova.
